IT is with much sadness that we announce the death of one of our Founder Members of the Lodge W.Bro. Derek Childs PAGDC, PPJGW, DSEM who passed to the Grand Lodge above on Saturday 13th August. He leaves his wife Christine and a Daughter Alison. The Lodge was consecrated in 1980 and W.Bro. Derek was its WM in 1986. He along with W.Bro. John Seyfried and W.Bro. Graham Wiffen were the last three surviving Founder Members.

Derek was both the Rochford Masonic Hall Manager and also the Company Secretary for 15 years before he retired. Him and his wife Christine gave an excellent service to all the Lodges, Chapters and other Orders who meet at the Masonic Hall. The picture below shows Derek receiving his 50 years in Freemasonry Certificate.

Derek also received a Distinguished Service to Essex Masonry DSEM. An honour that is very rarely received. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
